About This Game
Front Mission 3: Remake NSP ROM is a strategy game with RPG elements where you control wanzers (mechanized vehicles) to complete missions. To advance to the next mission, you must eliminate all enemies or reach a specific point on the map. While it’s impossible to directly target specific parts of an enemy’s body, different weapon types increase the likelihood of hitting specific areas, such as the arms or torso. If you manage to destroy an arm or a leg, the enemy has the option to surrender.
The Front Mission series is primarily set during the Cold War between specific regions and chronicles the signing of peace treaties, declarations of independence, and the aftermath of conflict. In Front Mission 3 Remake, you play as Kazuki Takamura and his friend Ryogo Kusama.
Enjoy enhanced graphics and smoother animations to meet the needs of modern gamers:
If the pilot ejects from the vehicle, they can fight on foot or infiltrate another ground unit. Movement points, a feature of Front Mission 2 that determines a unit’s combat readiness, return in an updated form, especially with the introduction of movement links, which allow multiple units to support each other in combat. Each Wanzer consists of four connectable parts: a torso, left and right arms, and legs. Destroying the torso disables the unit, while damaging an arm disarms it. Similarly, damaging the legs limits its movement.
A wide selection of melee and ranged weapons allows players to customize the Wanzer to their liking. Weapon selection is inherently strategic. Melee weapons don’t provoke counterattacks but require the player to close the distance, while ranged weapons allow for counterattacks. Customization is one of the game’s strengths: players can swap parts, weapons, armor, and even processors to create specialized functions, resulting in a feeling of playing with mechanical Lego bricks—in the best sense of the word. These mechanics continue to function flawlessly because they were carefully designed from the ground up.
Both stories revolve around an international conspiracy in which secret weapons, institutional intrigue, and nationalist calculations play a pivotal role:
It all begins with a chance encounter and the discovery of a stolen weapon of mass destruction. Kazuki and Ryogo, two young pilots in their twenties, become scapegoats for the theft and embark on a journey around the world to uncover the truth. Wherever they go, Kazuki and his group encounter corrupt police officers, military personnel, and alien enemies. Their online research and monitoring of events help them create a realistic world and subtly influence the plot’s development. Key plot points remain secret, and the group members feel constantly watched.
The game unfolds in the style of a 90s thriller, with fast-paced action sequences that showcase the young protagonists’ personal growth. It’s not a stealth game, but an epic adventure of over 40 hours that offers two distinct narratives. Beyond reading and exploring the virtual world of the internet, the essence of Front Mission 3: Remake lies in the tactical battles against the Wanzer. Compared to previous installments in the series, this latest version simplifies the combat system and improves certain aspects of the gameplay, eliminating much of the randomness that used to cause frustration.
